The West Contra Costa Alcohol Policy Coalition (WCAP) is dedicated to fostering a safer community for our youth by addressing the challenges posed by alcohol and cannabis. Our coalition brings together a diverse group of like-minded people, including community members, educators, health professionals, and policymakers, all working collaboratively to create and sustain a healthier alcohol and cannabis landscape for the West Contra Costa County communities.
The coalition aims to provide accurate and relevant information about the risks associated with alcohol and cannabis use. Our educational initiatives target parents, educators, and young people, empowering them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions.
WCAP values the community’s involvement in our efforts. We have monthly coalition meetings to update community members on coalition activities and offer members the opportunity to get out into the community and conduct store assessments, table at community events, or speak at local council meetings in regard to relevant issues. By working together, we can create a unified front against the issues of substance use in West Contra Costa County.
We advocate for policies that promote a safer environment for our communities. WCAP works to support and implement changes that regulate the availability and accessibility of alcohol and cannabis to minors, along with supporting measures that encourage overall community health.
The West County Alcohol Policy Partnership is dedicated to building safer, healthier communities by addressing the impact of alcohol and other drug use in West County. We recognize substance use as a significant local challenge and believe that open, informed conversations are essential to creating lasting change. Through community engagement, education, and policy advocacy, we work collaboratively to promote strategies that protect youth and support the well-being of all residents.
WCAP’s mission is to reduce youth alcohol and cannabis use in West Contra Costa County through a comprehensive approach that includes education, community engagement, policy change, and advocacy. By focusing on these key areas, we aim to create lasting positive change in our community.
We envision a community that is free from the negative impacts of alcohol and cannabis. Through continued education, engagement, policy change, and advocacy, WCAP seeks to build a healthier, safer, and more informed West Contra Costa County.
